Here’s what I know:
Last night, just as we were getting ready to go round to a friend’s for dinner, Mrs H got a message saying that Terry Holdbrooks [2] was being denied entry to the UK on the grounds that he had “no valid reason” for being here.
Holdbrooks, a former Guantánamo guard who converted to Islam and has been an outspoken critic of the camp, was coming here to speak at a series of events, and was apparently carrying documentation which guaranteed his accommodation during his stay. All the same, the Border Agency appear to be taking the view that he cannot satisfy the entry requirements for the UK. Visitors must “must provide financial evidence that they can support themselves for the duration of the trip without recourse to public funds or employment, and satisfy the entry clearance officer that they intend to leave the UK at the end of the visit.”
Here’s what I think:
He’s being denied entry on a charge of being cheeky to the British Government and degrading the beloved memory of St Tony of Blair, represented on Earth by Cardinal-Archbishop Gordon, whose compassion embraced the greatest President of the United States since William Jefferson Clinton, President George W Bush.
Point being:
I don’t know at what time he’s being put on a plane. I believe efforts are still going on to sort this out. So Twitter it, if you feel strongly about it, because this is real time stuff. Speak loudly enough, and you might be heard.
