In the interests of posterity, I believe each of these expressions of happiness need to be performed to camera.

Also… HURRAH! Is this the blog of an oh-so-very-nearly-give-or-take-ten-to-twelve-weeks two-time novelist? Hmm, that sounded pithier in my head. Needs some work, maybe. Point is, GOOD LUCK!

    That’s very cool. Agit-proppy.

Three quarters? Three quarters? You were one of those annoying people at school who finished their projects two weeks ahead of the deadline, weren’t you. I am three quarters:
-of the way through my first paragraph
-immersed in a sea of milk-sodden shreddies that have been thrown from a high chair
    -awake
-decided on whether or not to waste my time showering
-now more likely to do some writing today.
Keep up the good work. I like the new cover. Very Japanese soft drink.

zoinks!!! That’s so gorgeous! I was planning to get the paperback *anyways*, but now I shall HAVE to. Apparently the US knows how to cover a book – from fuzzy to stunningly beautiful, huh?

just be considerate when talking while brushing your teeth – you’re likely to spray toothpaste all over if you’re not careful… ;-)

I really like that new cover – a big improvement on the old pink one, I think! Roll on the new release!

  • Lynne Blundell said on June 17th, 2009:

    you are brilliant! loving l’orange!

(I can’t say too much without offending my good old English hardback – which is beautiful!, and you must forgive me for that… as it is signed…:-))

I dunno how you got every cover design for every version of The Gone Away World to be so striking, and I frankly don’t care. Nothing compares to the textured pink and green US hardcover that made me pick up the masterpiece in the first place, though.

I can’t claim any hand at all in making this happen. They said “what do you think it should be?” and I said “I have no idea, I think it should be nuts and amazing and I think you should all just cut loose.” But mostly I kept my mouth shut and let the people who can actually do this stuff go ahead and do it.

    Because they are awesome.

    OMG PONIES!!!!1!11

Yay!! It looks great! Very eye-catching and yes, very Japanese soft drink. Two thumbs up, and I can’t wait till I can start selling it.

LOVE the blurbs on the back. I’m so glad they fit the ninjas in there.

Irene is getting married, or she’d weigh in, too. I’m sure she’d approve.

  • Nick Harkaway said on June 17th, 2009:

That’s so great! I’ve never seen ‘ponies’ as an exclamation before – is it LFG related? Or something else?

  • Colin said on June 17th, 2009:

Hey Nick, lovely cover! I personally will always treasure my trade paperback’s “torn” cover, but this is an eye-catching one as well…

GOOD LUCK on the new novel! I’ll be buying three as soon as it comes out to force on my friends…! :)

Not to mention getting listed on NPR list of summer time reading!! That won’t hurt one tiny bit! good luck

  • kidrdaso said on July 4th, 2009:

Thanks to the lovely library lady on NPR, and her coy “I can’t tell you what this book is about” review, I raced over to the library to reserve myself a copy. I was fourth on the waiting list – Agh! the suspense!
I surfaced only for the bare minimum of food and sleep necessary after bringing home its bright neon fuzziness (pink velvet? freakin’ brilliant!), and now I’m scouring the intranets, jonesing for a hardcover to call my very own. (Backorder? Sob!)
Watch, I’ll probably have to get the yummy orange one too, so I can share. Can’t wait ’til September-ish comes. I’m gonna be selling this baby to like mad. Lest you think I’m crazed, I won’t be waving it ’round on a street corner somewhere; I do work at a respectable establishment; that rare-breed and rapidly disappearing, independent bookstore. ;)

I shall await your next work with great anticipation. Best of luck!
