I love the pub analogy - I love Twitter, though I hated it at first and presumed it was too voyeuristic...the teethbrushing thing again. But, actually, it's a wonderful resource for info, contacts and sharing - and fun!

*grin* I knew someone was going to pick me up on the grumpy thing. To be honest, it was a throwaway gag in the panel discussion. I always think it's good to get people to laugh during a serious talking shop - like a sip of water when you're working out. Goodness knows, when I'm in the audience, I'm thankful for a chuckle.

Grumpy people do shop for books, I can vouch for that. Especially religious books. And books on etiquette, curiously enough.

Great article. I don't know why people are so afraid of social media. I think it's been over-branded or something. I would like Twitter a lot more if more of my friends were on it!

"...you have to be sensitive to tone, and listen a bit before you jump in."

Hmm, yes. Good point.

Excellent article. I've never sorted my website out (beyond a blog) because I've struggled to know what to put on it. The point about content seems so simple and obvious, but it isn't - I'm going to sort it out forthwith.
